DESIGN STEPS UP

Heron’s Landing is a permanent supportive housing community for formerly homeless individuals. Through careful site planning and selection, Virginia Supportive Housing seized an opportunity to maximize a location that might otherwise have been overlooked. The final design is a response to not only the site, but also a design charrette with staff members and other stakeholders. The building faces inward to create a sense of sanctuary — and offers residents a moment to reflect on their self-sufficiency.

Heron’s Landing features 60 single-occupancy units, a night monitor apartment, a shared community space, and a business center.
