In Progress
A Higher Bar for Low-Income Housing
In 2019, Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority was awarded tax credits to design and build a new 62-unit low-income housing project. During the architectural programming phase, the project team met with future residents and other stakeholders for a formal design charrette to identify occupant needs and owner/operator requirements.
The project will not only meet HUD and VHDA standards and guidelines, but also the stringent requirements of the Passive House Institute US (PHIUS) — a voluntary standard for energy-efficient structures.
Project Notes
• Designed to Passive House (PHIUS) requirements
• Designed to VHDA Universal Design Guidelines for accessibility
• Designed to HUD Section 504 requirements
