Built in 1928 as an annex to the original 1883 structure, the Warwick Hotel once served as the hub of civic and community life in Newport News. In 1961, fire destroyed all but the current façade. Today, as many as 88 formerly homeless individuals call the Warwick home.

In addition to providing permanent supportive housing, the goal of the massive historical restoration and rehabilitation project was to meet or exceed current standards for accessibility, sustainability, occupant wellbeing, and more. Data submitted to EarthCraft™ revealed the building’s energy efficiency was improved by more than 50%.
